Sundays and legal holidays were excepted from computing demurrage charges, per ICC rules.

Form 369 "Statement of cars on hand" - 61A report - provided for details of all freight cars at a station to be recorded.  The required details included railroad initials and numbers, kind of car, date received, whether empty, the number of days detained against each status of the car such as unloading, empty, loading or waiting, and reasons for delays.

The form is noted "To be made up daily except Sunday from an actual check of each car on hand."

I believe that demurrage was payable (and railroads operated) 7 days a week. Does anyone know why would the form was not required to be completed on Sundays?
