Leo your mention of Trump woke me up. I had went to school with him. May first nite alone at Aurora Tower third trick was in the late spring of '73 and I hoped to have a good nite when 11811 comes highballing thru town and of course I had to hand up his orders. He was on Depot track 2 so I was on the platform side and because of the track he was on he had all green signals so he was right on the speed limit. Wilbur S. was the fireman and he stayed in the cab to get the orders just hung out the window with a flashlight in his hand. The flashlight nicked the order hoop knocking the orders out and they plopped on the platform at my feet with the train speeding by. I snatched the orders up and took off down the platform and could keep up with the train but could not gain any ground. Trump was in the second unit I was running beside so I yelled at him and tossed the orders up on to the gangway. BUT by that time I was at the west end of the platform and still had orders for the rear end. Luckily the train was long and I was able to hot foot it back to pick up the second hoop to catch the waycar. Caught the way car and he made the usual trip to Streator. I never heard another word of it and a couple months later wound up on 2nd shift for 7 months. Oh and Pete there is no fertilizer in this story Steve in SC -----Original Message-----

Last night there was nothing on TV,noone else at home and I got the itch to pull out those old time books and note calendars. The end product is 7 pages long and will get filled out with some visuals and maps in the next few days and sent off to Charlie.
It's a historic sketch of service on a couple Q Aurora div lines,3 character descriptions, and several true stories about a derailed waycar, eating in the waycar, pulling a Trump, runaway cars, wind blown cars,a burning waycar, near miss with high wide loads, switching manuevers, etc. All this on one job. With all those clues there's probably two guys on this list that know which job the story is about.
And I left some of the juicests stuff out to protect the guilty.
Leo
