Proto 2000 offered both E-7's & E-8/9's with Black nose stripes and BLI has offered E-7's with Black nose stripes. Both crop-up on Ebay from time to time.

It really doesn’t matter which you like, if you’re a prototype modeler, you are stuck with the color in use during your chosen date(s). Manufacturers, especially BLI and Walthers seem to prefer issuing red stripes, which precludes use on per-1959 layouts. Given the interest in transition era modeling, you’d think there would be more black stripe E unit offerings.
