Glen and Rupert-

Going through my Inbox in an attempt to clean it out I came across your email on block towers and the 1896 photo of Riverside.   I noticed something hanging over the tracks in the distance and realized that it was two bridges…a double track one on the North and Middle Track and a single on the South Track.  This is the first time I’ve seen any hint of the original (??) bridges over the Des Plaines River.   Interesting that a stationary steam engine was out in the open next to the Riverside Water Tower….

I wish there was a pan and zoom feature on this view….I’d love to explore what the suburban engine terminal and coach yard areas looked like in 1896!!!
