BRHS,From: Etan Heller [mailto:heller.etan@gmail.com] Sent: Tuesday, June 26, 2012 3:49 PM To: BRHS@burlingtonroute.com Subject: From the Newberry Library: CB&Q Project Blog With support from a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, a team of archivists and subject specialists here at the Newberry Library have undertaken the project of appraising and making more accessible the corporate archives of the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad Company (the CB&Q), which the Library started to acquire 70 years ago. The archives, which date from 1847 to 1965 and make up 2,760 linear feet of material, are an incredible resource for anyone interested in the history and culture of the railroad, as well as for researchers interested in many fields beyond railroad history. Although the project will take a while longer, we've decided to put up a blog documenting our progress, where we frequently post interesting things that we find while going through the collection. These posts showcase perfectly the collection's potential for research value in an incredibly diverse range of fields. We've included the link below and hope that you can look at the posts, comment on them, and perhaps even share the blog with your readers, users, researchers, and colleagues. Everywhere West: Preserving and Enhancing Access to the Records of
the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad Company
(http://publications.newberry.org/cbq/) We hope you enjoy the blog and share it with
others. Thank you! Etan Heller CB&Q Project Intern The Newberry Library __._,_.___
