We should remember this waycar by repainting and decalling one of the Walthers models.

You can scratch one more CB&Q waycar off the list.

CB&Q 13907 (built in December 1915 at the Q's Aurora IL shops) survived the BN merger and received a coat of green and BN #11153. It was retired in the late seventies and in August of 1980, it was moved to a camp site on the Mississippi River near Palmyra, Missouri. It survived the 500 year flood of 1993 and the 500 year flood of 2008. All was well and good until this past Friday night, 8 June.

The property owner was burning off brush when a gust of wind spread sparks to the waycar. She was a total loss. As a firefighter, I have been to countless fires, but this one really hurt.

Uploaded are two photos (in the John Lewis album) ? August 1980 and June 2012.

13907, you served well and you deserved a better fate.

John Lewis
Palmyra, Missouri
