T o many, the name Bill Kratville is synonymous with
Railroading. Born into a KCS railroad family, Mr. Kratville
began his own career with trains at age seventeen. Over
the next 65 years, he went on to own his own rail line and as many
as five of his own private rail cars. He was a Union Pacific historian
and photographer, an early consultant to Amtrak, a specialist
in passenger car repair and restoration, author of more than 20
books spanning six decades, and an avid collector of Railroadiana.
His Cornhusker Club car was donated to The Durham Museum
in Omaha, Nebraska (of which Mr. Kratville was a founder).
