This report was indeed a very interesting find. As always thanks for sharing the information. The CB&Q material found on pp 10-11 leaves some unanswered questions, however. One such question is can anyone speculate why the "Q" and some other roads didn't offer any statistics regaring repairs?
I also found it interesting that not all of my favorite railroads were listed and therefore no shop locations reported. The most noticeable railroad not included was the Chicago Great Western, the "Chicago Great Weedy."
Does anyone know if similar surveys would have been conducted in previous or subsequent years?

I've found a 1954 book entitled Survey of Car Repair Shops at
listing all the repair shops for individual railroads. Attached is the extract for the CB&Q showing what work was undertaken at each shop.
