The Q (or C&S and FW&D) did not purchase any SW1500s.  The SW1200 (SW12 on the Q) and SW1000 were their last switcher purchases.  BN purchased 15 SW1500s, GN 10 and Frisco 46.

First, I respect the guys who actually ran the units and understand the “SW15” designation that the BN gave the units.
I am not sure, however, that that relates to the CB&Q….. I believe they bought SW1500s.  I don’t have the resources at hand to research what the units were designated under the CB&Q so can’t comment on them being called SW15 up to the time of the merger.
The bigger point is that if you went to buy a CB&Q “SW15” at the hobby shop you wouldn’t find one…….the EMD designation of SW1500 is what they are listed under.  It isn’t a “foamer” designation…..it is the official EMD model name and I wasn’t aware of the BN rebuild designation for the units.
