In answer to the question of whether train numbers would be repeated in different divisions, the answer is yes.
I've encountered a few instances of that.

Archie

Thanks for this information.  Unfortunately, they are not the trains I'm looking for. The #8 I'm seeking was the Omaha to Chicago mail-only train that arrived at Chicago sometime after 7 am, and train #74 should be a local freight heading eastwards at Congress Park at about the same time.

Would train numbers be repeated in different divisions?

Rupert,  My  1911 Hannibal Div. Missouri district ETT No. 27 shows a No. 8 departing Burlington at 11:20 PM, Hannibal 2:45 AM and arriving Union Station, St Louis at 7:29 AM.  There is a No. 74 departing Hannibal at 9:45 AM and arriving North StLouis at 4:30 PM.  Archie

Ken Martin has helped with information from the public timetable, but does anyone have an employee one for about 1912? I'm specifically seeking information about #8 the Fast Mail and #74.
