Glen I don’t know the exact milepost of Niles, also known as Niles Station, it was about 2 ½ miles east of Cantril. Attached are two maps of lower Van Buren Co. Iowa, showing the line. One from 1875 shows it as the BSW and shows Niles. The other is from 1897, now the Chicago Burlington & Kansas City: note Niles is no longer shown and Mt Sterling is listed as Gwennupsburg (a name that last for a short time).

 

Niles consisted of the station and a school, which was about ¼ north of the station. The line went through a heavily wooded cut, while the school sat in an open field. I don’t know of any other buildings or industry, that may take more research.
