The SD-7's, down here in the coalfields, didn't have them until after about 1965. Radios didn't start being used until unit train operation began. When I left for the service in 66, it was still pretty much hand signals except for the unit trains. When I returned in 69, all the motors had radios. You just about have to have a radio on a "loader" and again at the power plant. Old Ben #24 opened in 65 and had the first flood loader. From: Nelson Moyer <ku0a@mchsi.com> To: CBQ@yahoogroups.com Sent: Sunday, March 25, 2012 3:25 PM Subject: [CBQ] Firecracker Antenna Question I’ve looked at the early photos of SD-7s in BB47/48, and none of
them show firecracker antennas, while photographs taken in the 60 all show
firecracker antennas. When did the Q first install firecracker antennas on
GP-7s and SD-7s?
