This unit, formerly Q 9944B, was featured on page 61 of my 1972 BN Annual.  This unusual paint scheme was the unit's third since the BN merger.  First it was the only E to carry BN's experimental silver body with green and white diagonal nose stripes paint scheme.  Then on Sept. 30, 1971, it was repainted at Denver for a football special the next day in a solid silver scheme with no nose stripes at all because there simply was not enough time to apply them; it had only the BN logo and 24" 9950 in black on its flanks.  Finally, in July 1972, with the unit about to become Amtrak property, it was repainted again at Denver into the scheme shown in the slide on eBay, with five red nose stripes and the BN herald and number on each side in black.  Another odd feature of this scheme: the words BURLINGTON and NORTHERN were stacked instead of in the prescribed single line.  Truly an unusual unit, and this third scheme didn't last long, as the unit was wrecked at Arlington, Ill., on Sept. 20, 1972.

On closer review, the E unit is 9950, not 9952 as listed.  Is this in Galesburg?
