Karl:

Thanks.  I remember the Army truck by the side of highway 12.  I'll look for the waycar next time I'm down there, probably in the summer.

Hol,

This waycar is set back off of Hy; 12, west of Tdad.  It would be approx. 1 mi. before the turn-off to Jansen  and is on the north side of the road.  The view of the car is obscured by trees and fences and the road is fairly narrow and busy so it's quite difficult to locate on the first or second "drive by".  There's a WWII military truck right next to the road near the driveway that leads to the car.

Not the best "directions" but the car is, actually, not in the best location to give good "directions" TO !

You're right about the area now called Starkville bearing little resemblance to the "little town" by the tracks of years past.  The original town of Starkville has changed little over the years and still "boasts" an AT&SF water tank at the south end.  "Ed's Tavern" still exists, as a building, though refreshments are no longer served.  Also, along with Jansen, the towns see only AMTK 3 and 4 nowadays.

Karl
