In my copy Burlington Lines Rules Of The Operating Department, effective May 1st 1951, Rule 401 reads as follows: "Holding Signal ? A manually operated signal located at entrance to yards, or within yards, by means of which trains or engines will be held when signal displays Stop indication." It then goes on to describe the flagging arrangements by switch tender or Operator should the signal be unable to display a proceed indication. My questions are: - what form did these signals take? - Were they just another regular red/green signal operated by a two-position switth in the yard office or similar? - Where were they used on the Q? My search of the web didn't yield anything helpful and I was wondering whether anyone here would know about them. Happy New Year to all.
