Thanks to Randy Daniel for sharing the photo and a bit more information about the waycar number and photographer. Randy, was there any additional information known about the date and location of the car at the time of this photo?
Randy's version seems to be consistent with the description posted by Archie Hayden of the interior of his waycar on December 15 in this thread. Additionally, the board down in the lower right hand corner of the photo seems to me to be an indication that the photo orientation Randy posted is correct. The board at the end of the bunk on the stove side would have been lower than the board on the conductors desk side as evidenced in one of the other photos Hol so graciously posted for us to view.
For anyone interested Waycar #14500 was an NE-4 car built at the Galesburg, IL shops in March, 1879 as a 28' car and later rebuilt as a 30" car (no date cited). Its original number was CB&Q-5. The notes about this car indicate that it was destroyed at Villisica, IA on November 20, 1942. Photographer Bill Phillips was out and about preserving history for our benefit pre WWII it appears. Hol had surmised that the photo was probably of a 1930-1940 vintage and it would appear he is on target there.
Thanks to everybody for their continued interest and posting in this thread about waycar interiors and about life in a waycar. It is all quite fascinating and most informative for me. It always amazes me at how much information is out there for me to learn from.

Randy Danniel noticed that one of the photos Hol had attached is actually reversed. He sent the correct orientation for sharing with the list. This Bill Phillips photograph is of waycar #14500 from Joe Douda’s collection.
