Dave,

The Q once sent some Great Northern F units to EMD for trade in including one A unit that was still in service. The unit was scrapped by Piliet Brothers before the error was noted. A number of people would have had to have handle the unit before moving it to the scrap yard, but none noted the error. GN Mechanical Dept. was upset, but there was nothing that could be done to return the locomotive. EMD resolved the issue by offering GN credit against the order.
