List,
I did a little digging and found this old thread from Rob Adams from 2003. It
appears that no one answered his questions below? I'm particulatrly interested
in his question I've highlighted in yellow, below. Can any of you freight car
modelers comment on this?
Rich G.
I'm looking at the July 1991 issue of Mainline Modeler which contains an
article titled "CB&Q FM-13 from Con-Cor". The author used a Con-Cor
flat to model the Q's FM-13 flat cars, and the article includes drawings
which seem to have discrepancies when compared against the side view
photo of CBQ 89900 that appears on page 29.
Now my questions:
Was there more than one arrangement of side stake pockets used on the
FM-13 cars? The article and drawings make a point that the end pockets
were spaced very closely to the second pocket, yet the photo on p. 29
clearly shows a different arrangement than the drawing.
Is the end view photo on p. 29 from an FM-14? It isn't identified, and
some details seem to differ from the side view of the FM-13 below it.
Are the drawings in the article accurate for the FM-13 in general?
>From the photo and drawings, it appears that the cars could be modeled
fairly accurately by using a Proto 2000 flat car (which was unavailable
when the article was written). Can anyone add to this presumption?
Are there other sources of photos available? Particularly good side and
end views which show the details of the cars?
Thanks in advance.
Best regards, Rob Adams
