Mike,
My memory is things were pretty much just as shown on pg 28&29 of BB 25 as
far tracks, buildings, etc. There was only one chutes track that served both
ends of the loading platform.
As to current day layout it looks like they bent the elevator track to get
into the lumber company. To my knowledge all the tracks currently in the
area have been there for decades, except the newest track between the old b/o
and the old North Main. The other thing that has changed is all the tracks
have been raised up out of the mud and accumulated, well I'll let your
imagination fill that part in.
The tracks in the area we're discussing were named as follows from west to
east:
Elevator, chutes, middle, bad order and then sometime in the late 60s or early
70s a 4th runaround/storage track called of course"the new track" was
added east of the bad order. Last track ,next to mainlne is the Old North
Main.
Somewhere in my archives I have a 1960s Burlington Bulletin showing a
switch engine spotting stock at the chutes. If I find it I'll scan and make it
available. It shows the loading platform, chutes and pens.
I did reference BB25,my 1959 track charts and my 1979 BN Spins Montgomery
booklet just to refresh my memory before replying.

A few topics relating :
Stockpen Layout:
I was wondering if anyone has a diagram showing how the loading docks,
ramps, stockpens and alleys were laid out at Montgomery? I have BB25 which
shows general layout of the buildings but not the fencing.
Chute tracks:
Were there separate tracks for north/south chutes or one track with north
and south leads to the yard? Did these tracks run to the west of the
elevator?
Current Tracks:
Finally, looking at bing maps birdseye views (_http://www.bing.com/maps_
(http://www.bing.com/maps) ), are the current tracks running into the lumber
treatment plant from the south and north the old Chute tracks? The one from
the South runs adjacent to the east side of the elevator so I'm guessing
that it used to run into the old lean-to? If so, did it used to continue
through the lean to the chutes or did it stop there? In any case, could
someone tell me whether the current tracks are remnants of old ones or do they
post-date the sheepyard?
Thanks for any help. Sorry for the number of questions but I figure it
will give Steve or Leo something to do! :-)
