Leo,
The 40' box cars to express cars were covered, as you point out, in BB #7. The
50' cars were in the 8500 - 8549 series. The remarks in the documentation
section describing these cars were:
8-ft side door openings. Equipped with one-wear steel wheels; Royal slack
adjusters, side type; Miner draft gears. Renumbered from series 21300-21349 in
1944-45. 42 cars again renumbered to 21300-21341, one car renumbered to 21044
in 1953, and one car renumbered to 21229 in 1954. Balance of six cars assigned
to LCL merchandise service between Lincoln and Scottsbluff.
This came from a section of an equipment book that Jim Singer copied for me.
Both the these conversions were prior to the acquisition of the 300 troop
kitchens that were purchased from the US Government as surplus after WWII.
These troop kitchens were quickly converted to baggage express, eliminating the
need for these box cars. Strangely enough, both these converted box cars and
the troop kitchens road on the Allied Full cushion trucks. Later, when the Q
blanked the windows (welded on side panels) and re-lettered them with the
ribbon-style lettering, they converted most of these from the Allied trucks to
the A-3 Ride Control trucks.

Charlie,
Thanks for the clarification. Just re read all the details in BB #7.
Leo-
A number of both 40 and 50 FT box cars were built with the Allied Full
Cushion Trucks, some set up for express service in passenger trains.

A question was raised during an annual meet presentation about a box car
with Allied Full Cushion trucks.
More than likely since the box car was near a baggage car this was one of
the converted box cars for baggage service that initially had these trucks
that were later banned.
