Held @ Copeland Park in No. LaCrosse just off of I-90. Opens @ 10:00 a.m., Sat. July 16. Hudson 4000 on display (they attach a large air compressor to operate whistle) along with the Grand Crossing tower. BN (& CP) will have equipment on display in their yards and of course there is significant evidence of the Burlington's deep ties to LaCrosse still surviving inc. Former Div Hdq, one shop bldg, the tower, etc. Good place to encounter ex-Q emps. Proceeds go to further refurbish 4000, the tower & a wooden Milw caboose. Good motels within walking distance & good food on site (think REAL Wis. brats "mit kraut" as the Germans would say). Also railfan the ex-Heileman Brewery (now City Beer) still served by Q/BN. etc. (they still "kreusen" [naturally carbonate] and have that world's largest 6 pack) Sometimes you can catch ex-C&S ins. boxcars and of course the EPB comes thru albeit on Milw/CP tracks. Also former Guind Brewery in existence (served by Q). I'll have a table if anyone has something to loan/borrow/sell/swap. Gerald ------------------------------------ Yahoo!
