I just wanted to thank anyone from these two lists or the BRHS who may have
helped the Dupage County Forest Preserve repaint NE-1 waycar 14351.  It's gone
from BN green to a more correct oxide red, although with some black trim.  I
was
pleasantly surprised to see the new paint job when I cycled through the St.
James Farm from the Illinois Prairie Path recently.

St. James Farm is the former estate of Brooks McCormick of the McCormick
reaper/International Harvester family.  He donated the farm to the county on
his
death several years ago.  The family home has been removed, but the farm
buildings, horse stables and equestrian venues remain.  There is also a
considerable amount of outdoor artwork.  The walls near the stables include
brickwork and signs removed from some of the original McCormick factories in
Chicago.

The waycar is located near the equestrian venues.  I believe it was used by
officials when competitions were held at the farm. It is sitting on its own
length of track on the original trucks.  You can't enter the car, but you can
get a good look at the outside as it is not fenced in.

St. James Farm is located in the northeastern corner of Winfield Road and
Butterfield Road (Il Rt 56) in Warrenville.  It's only open selected weekends
at
the moment.  The entrance is off of Butterfield, about ½ mile east of Winfield
Road.  The forest preserve district puts out a large sign at the turn-off on
weekends when they are open.

Regards,

Al Kamm III
