-------- Original Message -------- Subject: RE: [CBQ] Climax Branch of the C&S Ry. Date: Mon, 4 Jul 2011 07:04:23 -0600 From: HOL WAGNER Bob: Uneva Lake was at milepost 122.7 on the narrow gauge line between Dickey, Climax and Leadville. The siding was the almost annual location of the Uneva Lake Slide, which buried the tracks under dozens of feet of snow. rocks and tree trunks. The location is in Ten Mile Canyon, between Frisco and today's Copper Mountain. The lake is still there, beside Interstate 70, and the slide is still active, coming down this year and burying the bike trail that now occupies the C&S grade through the canyon. Uneva Lake, then, is well west of Climax, which is at milepost 137.41. I saw on old profiles I examined while I worked at Rice Yard that an engine boiler-water siphon was installed at Uneeva but the lake had no station or operator.
