Michael and Charlie:
It is indeed at MP 20.78. Also at Survey Station 1096+99.
More information than you asked for, but this signal bridge has an interesting
history. Although it was not placed at this location until 1958, it is one of
the original 3 track bridges placed between Clyde and Aurora in 1913. It has
crossframes, which the original 3 track bridges had, and which were eliminated
from bridges of the same design that were fabricated later. As near as I can
determine, it was originally placed at MP 17.74 at West Hinsdale. In 1933, the
overhead for Illinois Hwy 83 was built which was going to cut off visibility of
the eastbound signals. So the signal bridge was taken down and shipped to the
storehouse, and the signals (Mains 1 and 2 westward and Mains 2 and 3 eastward)
were mounted on both sides of the deck of the overhead bridge. In 1938, the
signal bridge was extended 24' and erected at MP 191.61 at Bushnell, over the
Quincy Main, the Beardstown Mains, and an auxiliary track. In 1955, there was
a line change at Bushnell that shifted the Quincy Main, and the signal bridge
was taken down again, and sent to the storehouse. In 1958, the control point
at Fairview Avenue was constructed, so the original bridge without the 24'
extension was used for the westerly bridge of that control point, and it is
still there.

Subject: Re: [CBQ] Downers Grove IL signal bridge location
Michael-
According to the Track Alignment and Grade drawing I have the signal bridge
between Maple Avenue and Washington Street in Downers Grove is located at
approximately MP 20.78. The location is not called out on the chart but it that
is what it works out to be measuring the print and calculating the position
between
shown culverts at MP 20.84 and MP 20.49.

Does anyone know the exact milepost location of the signal bridge
between Maple Ave and Washington St in Downers Grove IL. It would be
milepost 20.something-or-other. I've not been able to find any
markings on the bridge or signals boxes, at least from the angles that
I can photograph them.
Thank you kindly,
Michael Matalis
