Number 14 was an all stops mail and express train..It originated in Denver
carried passengers
Number 2 was a Burlington-Galesburg-Chicago local..Shows in public TT as Zephyr
9902 Originated at Hannibal as No. 42 No train baggageman
Number 30 is the EB Aksarben Zephyr
Number 18 is the EB California Zephyr
Number 32 shows in my public TT May-Sept 53 shows as 6 (Coloradoan) -32
Number 12 is EB Nebraska Zephyr
No.8 is the eastbound counter part of No. 29 (Fast Mail) Neither of these
trains carried passengers
No. 15 was a local mail train..carried passengers...made the local stops which
No. 29 did not..

I'm open to correction by those with superior knowledge..........

Pete

Subject: [CBQ] Lines East Train Name and Number Question

I bought a 1953 Employee Timetable for the Ottumwa and Creston Divisions in
Batavia, and I'm having trouble batching Westbound to Eastbound train
numbers. I know the CZ was #17/18 and the DZ was #1/10. I think the
Coloradoan was #19/6. From Strauss Vol. 2, I figured out that the westbound
Ak-Sar-Ben was #3, Zephyr 9902 was #5, Mail and Express Local was #7,
Nebraska Zephyr was #11, Fast Mail was #15, but I can't match the Eastbound
train numbers to these westbound train numbers. The unknown Eastbound train
numbers are #14, #2, #30, #18, #32, #12, and #8. Also, the TT lists train
#29 Westbound, and I can't find that train running on Lines East in any of
my books. Another mystery is the train number for the Zephyr Rocket, which I
know stopped at Burlington in 1953, so it should be in the TT. I'd
appreciated some help sorting these train number out.

Nelson
