there was an extensive step-by-step article in an early CB&Q His. Soc. 'Zephyr' issue - can dig mine out this w/e but I think you were a mbr then Ray; ck your archives. The common complaint when many of us acquired the $99 NPP K's was the poor can motor, everything else was/is fine. I've used mine several times albeit with a short train Gerald To: cbq@yahoogroups.com From: tczephyr@hotmail.com Date: Thu, 17 Mar 2011 10:01:47 -0700 Subject: [CBQ] Upgrading an HO NPP 4-6-0 Just wondering if anyone has upgraded the motor for a NPP 4-6-0. I have a couple of these and the run "OK". I would like to change out the open frame motor for a can motor for better slower speed control and overall better performance. If anyone had done so, can you let me (and anyone else) know what motors were used. Hopefully without having to change out the gears. Would that same motor also work on the NPP 2-6-2?
