Charlie, I also wondered if it might be a typo, but thought is might be S-4 hudson No. 4004. In that time period, I do not know of any diesel or gas-electric locomotives in the 400 number series. Some early gas- electrics were numbered in the 500 series, but by the late '40s, they had been renumbered in the 9000 series.
