I'm thinking about writing an article for the Zephyr segment,"Indutries
along the Q",about General Mills at West Chicago. I have photos, track
diagrams and first hand experience switching the plant. But...............
Why would General Mills locate on a Q branch 12 miles from the nearest yard
when the" Norwegian" had a mainline and a yard right next door?
We know the Q had an industrial development department and so did the CNW
based Gene Lewis "12,000 days..." . There was plenty of vacant land along
the CNW.
Anybody have any facts on this question ?
