Funny how a name, once associated with a location, hangs on for decades.  When 
"Snuffy's", approaching Aurora Interlocking, wanted the Operator to be aware of 
their exact location they would announce, "Aurora Tar (tower), we're commin' by 
the stoveworks" !!  This, it was hoped, would produce a favorable indication on 
the "Island" signal.  

Sometimes it did and, sometimes it didn't.

This "locator" was used at least into the 80's
