Norm,
Just to note the Hotel Burlington was excellent also. I was just a kid, born in
'63, I remember eating there in '67.

In June 1963 I enjoyed lunch in the Galesburg depot Grier's and dinner
that same day in the one at Burlington, before spending a night in the
Burlington Hotel, a grand old place. The food at both Grier's was excellent.

I frequented the Burlington restaurant quite a bit on Sunday nights in
1966, and I remember sitting at the horseshoe shaped counter. I would
arrive on train #15 at 11 PM and eat an order of blueberry pancakes
before retiring to the bunk cars. I was always amazed at the number of
people in this depot (and restaurant) so late in the evening. I can't
attest to Grier's food in general, but I thought the blueberry pancakes
were good, and a bargain also at (I seem to recall) 35 cents.

Ken,
I had many a breakfasts in the Burlington and Galesburg restaurants
while working third trick.
The Burlington restaurant had a horseshoe shaped counter the cement
foundation is still there I beleive.
I went past the station last Saturday but didn't stop.
