Tim When this subject was discussed back in November 2001 on the old BRHS List, John Mitchell commented "Not only did Grier operate restaurants on Burlington property, they operated the "kitchen cars" on the company service outfits. Hope their food was better in the restaurants than on the camp cars!" There's a copy of a Grier's menu card shown on page 2 of Zephyr 50 and there's a copy of a Grier's postcard on page 30 of Bulletin 37. >From Bulletin 9 page 24 "When fire damaged the Seneca Cafe In 1946, the John >J. Grier Co. set up shop in five company service boxcars to feed railroaders until the cafe was repaired. Called "the dining car", the name has been the source of some confusion since a real dining car wasn't used. There is a photo of the line of cars and an internal shot of the Cafe.
