Couldn't read my own writing! (that's what happens when you copy names onto a
piece of paper while holding 2 old TT's open & temporarily switch hands AND are
strongly right-handed)

Add: Aiken, IL

Correct: Bricklyn, IL should read Brooklyn, IL

Again, a very few Stations were deleted for a period of years but reappeared
like a phoenix yrs later for various reasons. One I personally am aware of is
Charme, 1st station north of Prairie du Chien on the LaCrosse Div. A
short-lived village on the CB&N, it became a 'station' again in later yrs due
to the amount of livestock being loaded there resulting in it becoming a flag
stop. And some depots did indeed long outlast their 'towns' as some were very
well built.

Another name change: (I did not list this as a deleted station because I knew
why the name was 'gone'). It is a good example of such changes: Turner Jct, IL
became West Chicago on a vote of the citizens who felt naming the town after
Chicago would generate more industry. Going back further, 'Turner' (named for
a pioneer citizen) became Turner Jct when the Aurora Branch aka CB&Q was
constructed from Turner on the C&NW/Galena & Chicago Union southward to Aurora
in 1850. That was also the rationale of the citizens of Dunleith, IL who
renamed their community after Dubuque (becoming E. Dbq) as at the time Dbq was
a major industrial center, the 'wood working capital' of America.

Gerald
