Who knows? The car may have been repainted every 2-3 years when it was in service.... I imagine that the original lettering was Gold Leaf...... it might have been applied over yellow paint. Dulux Imitation Gold probably came into play much later in the car's life, if at all, as it was a 1940's paint. Before then either Gold Leaf or some carrier mixed with gold powder was most likely used. I'd get in touch with curators at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, the B&O Museum, the Mid-Continent Railway Museum and the California State Railroad Museum as they all have done extensive restoration of wood cars.
