[CBQ] Question regaring CB&Q 5-chime steptop locomotive whistles

I just had a question for someone who might have knowledge regarding the
uniquely-designed 5-chime whistles for the Burlington; I have one of these
that came out of Colorado and it has faint traces of red paint on it.  Was
it the practice of the CB&Q to paint their loco whistles red?  The whistle
top is cast iron and the bowl is brass/bronze, looks like the top was
painted red but the bowl was painted black.

You see a lot of CB&Q design whistles out there in the hands of collectors,
and the whistle is still on the C&S 641 in display in Leadville, Colorado
but I don't remember if it was painted red the last time I was in Leadville.

Any history/knowledge shared would be most appreciated.
