[CBQ] M4a 2-10-4 roof vent detail...

Does anyone have a clue as to how the cab roof vent works on a 2-10-4?  I'm 
looking at my old NPP HO Scale model and am trying to understand how it worked. 
 It looks almost like a low clestory on a passenger car but that can't be 
right?  Did the whole thing angle up from the front of the cab roof and prop 
open from the back?  My scale measurement shows the vent is 2 feet wide and 6.5 
feet long.

This would be a lot easier if the "Q" would have saved one less Hudson and 
donated #6315 to Beardstown, IL for display in their city park.  I could just 
go over to Beardstown and look at the roof myself.
