Roger S. ('Sherm') Tea passed away on Oct 29 due to diabetes complications in
Coon Rapids, MN. I delayed this posting to get obit & memorial program from
his long time friend Bob Stanage. Roger was born & grew up in Chciago/Downers
Grove so his love of the Q came naturally. A grad of the U of Minn, he was a
Navy vet (where he became friends with Bob Stanage who was also from Minnesota
& loved all things Burlington). Thus shortly after CB&Q His. Soc. began in
fall of "76, Bob, one of the charter 6, recruited Roger. Roger joined us at
the next national NMRA ("77 in Denver) and brought along a large Burlington
banner for our "booth". He was a regular attendee at meets until diabetes made
his wheelchair-bound. He was active as a youth group leader & last worked at
Como Shops train store in St. Paul while living in New Brighton. A life mbr of
the NMRA & O scale ng modeler, he leaves a daughter Janine Judd Tea & grandson
Daniel Tea & two sisters. The program for his church service featured a color
photo of Roger surrounded by CB&Q models with his big BR banner in the
background & BR pins on his shirt. A real Q fan who knew the suburbam
Burlington well who will be greatly missed.
