Roy -
I forwarded your message to Johnny Schmid, a retired Aurora Division "Q"
engineer. John had mentioned "Red" several times when I worked with John. I'm
pretty sure "Red" had a son of the same name (Sr./Jr.) as I recall. One of them
was involved in the restoration of the Texas & Pacific 2-10-4 steam locomotive
that briefly pulled the Bicentennial train thru Texas in 1976. In some issue of
Trains Magazine, years ago, there was a picture taken in the cab of an E unit,
of a "Q" Road Foreman of Engines (the guy with the Stetson hat & the "stoggie"
sticking out of his mouth) running the morning Zephyr somewhere between Aurora
& the Twin Cities doing about 90+ MPH; this person was "Red" Visney, Sr. I
think "Classic Trains" Magazine re-printed this photo in an issue several years
ago. List members will respond shortly, with the original photo issue in Trains
and the subsequent printing in CT. I only hired-out in engine service 40 years
ago, and "Red" was long gone to TX and possibly retired by then.
