Gerald:

I don't have any original timetables that old, but I did look on an old
track profile from Denrock to Savanna that is dated February 1909, and it shows
a reference to Ayres Tower at survey station 2729+09 (MP 51.687) and in
parenthesis it says "Formerly Plum River Tower". The crossing is also
referenced at ss 2729+87.4. There is no mention of ownership. If the Milwaukee
was built here prior to 1904, then my guess is that the Q was junior at this
location, because it doesn't look like the original Q line into Savanna
crossed the Milwaukee here, but the 1904 cutoff from Ayres to the Plum River
bridge did. I have an old Illinois District July 1904 timetable that I copied
at the Newberry Library that I believe pre-dates the cutoff, and Ayres is not
mentioned at all.

Anyone have a 1920 or earlier Galeburg Div ETT to check whether there was a
tower @ this point way back when? (it may have been Milw) Was just south of
Savanna. Alos, anyone have info on the 2.3 mile branch that ran from Osborn (5
miles east of Barstow) to the Cleveland Coal Mine? Was built in 1880's &
abandoned by 1920.Speaking of old ETT's - I have Chicago & Aurora #48
(June 6, 1926) that I will swap for a LaCrosse Div from the 20's or early
30's. Thanks, Gerald
