Welcome to the group Michael!

>From your post I see that you are also new to the Burlington, which is
GREAT! This is an excellent place to begin to gain knowledge of the CB&Q.

I?ve uploaded a 1949 CB&Q System map to the files area of the CBQ list ?
couldn?t believe we hadn?t already loaded one up there. This will help
greatly in answering your questions about where the Burlington went ? a bit
more specific that ?Everywhere West!? You?ll find Burlington (my hometown)
in southeastern Iowa on the Q?s mainline from Chicago to Omaha, Lincoln &
Denver and Quincy is in west central Illinois on the line from Chicago to
Kansas City.

The major commodities the Q handled were passengers, mail, coal, grain,
livestock, meat, produce to name a few.

I recommend you take some time to browse through our message archives, which
will give you a feel for what the Q was all about. I also recommend the
BRHS web site www.BurlingtonRoute.com <http://www.burlingtonroute.com/>
that will tell you more about the great CB&Q ? the Way of the Zephyrs.

Subject: [CBQ] System Map from New comer

Greetings
I am new to the group. I live in Florida and model mostly southeast
railroads(mostly SR and FEC) but have always been interested in the
Burlington. Probably goes back to the Tyco GP20 I had as a kid in the
60s.

Is there a system map of where the Burlington went? Where are the
cities of the name sake, I know Chicago but what about Burlington and
Quincy?

What were some major commodities handled by the CB&Q?

I lived in Denver in the early 70s, Lakeland AFB. Was the C&S line into
Denver from south the only Burlington line into Denver?

Thank you for the answers.

Bill Michael
