Charlie
My humblest apologies!!! Have you also "wasted" time on the Ron V Nixon
collection on the Museum of the Rockies site at Montana State University at
<http://muse.museum.montana.edu/rvndb> It featured on the STMFC a
couple of weeks ago?
There are about 80 CB&Q photos plus B&MR and C&S photos. The photos tend to
be of locos (including joint C&S/AT&SF) but there are also photos of the
first Zephyr into St Paul in 1934, a work train from about 1910, a pile
driver constructing a bridge using a stationary boiler for steam, and photos
from the 1948 New York fair.
There is also the composite photo purporting to show the Chicago Special
with an Adams Express car in 1900 in front of the Rockies, later reproduced
in Bulletin 44 with an explanation as to how the photo was created.
Interesting that the "photo" has made its way into the collection
Rupert
