Pete,
At least during WWII, senority and a job were held for war veterans
at most if not all companies. My dad's senority at Electro-Motive (he
started there in Sept., 1941), included the two years he spent in the
service as a Navy CB in the Phillipines and New Guniea from late 1943
to the end of 1945.
