Listers,
This message apparently did not go through when I first sent it.
Is the engine and generator still in the power unit of the Mark Twain
Zephyr? If not, when and where was it removed? Years ago, when I saw
it at Mt. Pleasant, IA., the Winton engine and GE generator were
still there. It would be nice if the restoration, even static, could
include the original power plant. It gives one a much better sense of
how crowded and environmentally unsatisfactory the working conditions
were in the days when built and in normal operation. Hopefully, she
is not making one more move into oblivion.
