Placed in the file section are photos of the Station Map for E Dubuque and
Galena Jct also the track charts for the same area. Four charts LX 54-57 which
show the then IC trackage, alignment and layout. I think the tower disappeared
when the area was CTCed around '66-68 when the CTC was moved from Aurora to
House 9.
Guys use to talk about having to ride a motor car to work this tower. Although
I think there is a road back into the area. The CGW came down the hill and
joined the Q in using the IC to East Dubuque where E Cabin controlled the
crossovers and switches for the CGW and IC to go thru the tunnel and across the

Subject: [CBQ] Galena Jct. and Galena
I have 2 questions about this branch line that hopefully someone on the
list can answer.
At Galena Jct. the branchline appears to cross the CGW on a diamond
after leaving the Q westbound main. Is this correct, and if so, was
the diamond in place up until the branch was abandoned in 1961?
At Galena, there was a tower at one time where Q line crossed the IC
main. Did this tower have a name, and when was it removed?
