> What else was painted in pre-merger green?

Locomotives --- all the U23Cs, all the SD45s as you noted, and a
single GP40. Neat bit on the GP40 I recently learned. It was repainted
in green about 1-1/2 years before the merger, but it had the BN logo
applied. Still carried 'BURLINGTON' name on the electrical cabinet
doors, but had the BN logo in place on the cab side well ahead of the
merger. An additional note on the green .... it is NOT cascade green,
but a lighter green that closely resembles John Deere green. There are
some good pictures of these in the new BN in Color Vol 2 book from
Morning Sun.
