The list of BN equipment (courtesy of Friends of BN) shows the new numbers
allocated to CB&Q equipment in 1970. This includes a group of Q tank cars
numbered 205270-205499 which kept the same numbers under BN. Any ideas what
these might have been?
Some of the numbers in this group had been used in earlier years for tank cars
of various classes that retained their heating coils when the rest of the class
had theirs removed (about 1938) and were numbered separately from the others.
For example 205272-3 were ex 150110 and 150120 (class TM-2A), 205274 was ex
150578 (class TM-4A) and 205290 was ex 151075 (class TM-5), but all these had
been taken off the roster by 1966 (and probably by 1950).
On that basis, I suspect that the mystery cars were in a similar situation,
being renumbered away from the rest of the class.
Can anyone offer any suggestions or identify any other cars that received
numbers in this group? Does anyone have access to BN diagram books that might
help?
Thanks
