DIESELS WEST! THE EVOLUTION OF POWER ON THE BURLINGTON, David P. Morgan,
Kalmbach Publishing, 1963, 164 pages. This book and dust jacket are in
excellent
condition. Traces the history of modern motive power from the early
wood-burners of the
1850's to the GP30's. A copious collection of photos with narration by famed
TRAINS
editor, David P. Morgan. No doubt that Mr. Morgan was a Burlington fan. $20.95
CHICAGO, BURLINGTON AND QUINCY IN COLOR VOL. 2, Michael J. Spoor, Morning Sun
Books, 1993, 128 pages. Brand new in publisher's original shrink wrap. Superb
color
photos of the Burlington from Chicago to the Twin Cities with emphasis on the
1950's and
1960's and focuses on passenger and freight operations over the Chicago &
Aurora and La
Crosse Divisions. During this time period the CBQ was purchasing its second
generation of
diesels from EMD and GE. The black and gray paint scheme of the 1940's gave way
to the
brilliant Chinese red and gray introduced in 1958. 100 plus color photos with
maps,
timetables etc. A must own book for the CBQ fan. $35.95
