All of the GP-7s and GP-9s were delivered in the black & grey scheme as well
as all of the CB&Q SD-7s and SD-9s (the later batch of C&S SD-9s were
delivered in red & grey).

The BRHS Zephyr Issue 2-95 lists unit-by-unit approximate time frames when
units were painted into the red & grey schemes. Out of the 68 GP-7s, at
least 11 (203, 224, 227, 235, 240, 246, 250, 258, 260, 261, 262) were still
black & grey by the BN merger, and there are four others suspected to have
been black & grey - 202, 230, 239, and 254. Has any one come up with photos
of these units at merger time that shows their paint scheme? By the way,
several GP-7s were repainted red & grey shortly before the merger, so photos
of units in black & grey as late as 1969 do not mean they were not
repainted.

Were all of CB&Q's GP-7's originally delivered in Black? Spoor Vol. 2
page 64 shows 2 GP-7's in black livery in 1966 & 1967.

Next question: since Atlas doesn't make N-scale GP-7's in black, can
you provide recommendations & contact info for someone who could re-
paint some GP-7's? There's enough detail on these that I'm afraid it'd
be beyond my skill-level to paint some....

(Do you think that might have something to do with non-availability of
this paint scheme?)

Thanks in advance.

Paul Leonard
