I've not had any problems with Athearn's ready to run loco's. They lack the
detail of the Genesis line, but the ones I have run great and have separate
grabirons etc. and the paint and lettering on mine clear and sharp. John

Subject: [CBQ] Athearn RTR SD40 and GP35 CB&Q engines
Hello Gents,
Are the (new) Athearn RTR SD40 and GP35 CB&Q engines worth considering? The
only
pictures I can find are the Athearn website pictures and from them I cannot
judge the quality
of the loco exterior. Since I live in the Netherlands, it's very hard (if not
imposible) to find a
sample here to check it out. I have always stayed away from Athearn stuff and
have ony a
fleet of LL, Kato and Atlas engines.
I'm particularly interested in these items since Kato's are a rare find
nowadays.
I'm not a rivetcounter, I will happily allow some mistakes, as long as the
appearance is okay.
Which means in my opinion they should appear like the LL's and Atlas
engines... I rarely apply
all kinds of upgrade parts to them.
Thanks for your input, it is greatly appreciated.
Ewout from the Netherlands
