Ralph,
Good luck on your new venture. I have a young friend who works as an
engineer for the BNSF out of Galesburg. His name is Michael Huber. He
has been promoted for several years now. My son works for the U.P.
out of Kansas City. He is a qualified engineer, but hasn't been set
up yet. He has 10 people ahead of him, so he continues to work the
conductor's extra board. Both love their work. Hope you do to.
As for the grip, I think subsequent replies have answered your
question well. I know my son recently bought a new grip that he
really likes and is very popular with the crews. I believe he had to
order it on the internet and they are not cheap, but very durable. I
don't recall the brand, but if you are interested, I can check with
him and let you know off line.
Again, good luck. Be careful out there.
