Hey everyone......Have a question I hope some of you can answer.
Pre-HEP steam heated passenger cars.........
I understand steam was used during the winter time to heat the cars, and
that the cars had batteries, and axle generators to create power for lights and
AC units ect. The question is why did the railroads have to run steam through
the entire train during the summertime? What was the purpose of steam in
July when it was 80' outside? I understand they may seem like an elementary
question, but help me out here please.
